1. What is the WeMed Award about?
The aim of the WeMed Award 2022 is to highlight the importance of sustainable production and consumption in the textile and clothing sector and to scale up the profile of eco-innovative enterprises. This edition is jointly organized by MedWaves and Texfor and funded by the ENI CBC Med Programme.

2. What are the WeMed Award objectives?
The aim of the award is to:

(i) recognise successful cases of start-ups with sustainable business models within green, blue and circular economy in the textile and clothing sector in the Mediterranean region, led by women (no age limit) and/or youth (up to 35 years old).

(ii) inspire other start-ups/entrepreneurs within the textile and clothing sector from the Mediterranean region into integrating environmental and social innovations within their business models.

(iii) emphasize the need to promote transformations on the governmental and political level in the Mediterranean area to support the entrepreneurial network in adopting environmental and social improvements in the textile and clothing sector.

3. Who can apply to the 2022 WeMed Award?
For this edition, the WeMed Award is targeting early and growth stage scalable eco-innovative ventures in the textile and clothing sectors in the Mediterranean region. All selected ventures must be led by women (no age limit) and/or youth (up to 35 years old) and be comprised in the eligible areas from the ENI CBC Med Programme, including 112 territories from 14 countries (Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Palestine, Portugal, Spain and Tunisia). *In the case of having winners from Algeria, the prizes will be funded by the SwitchMed Programme.

4. What is the prize?
The prizes for each category are:

A. Northern Mediterranean Countries (Europe)

  • 1st Prize: 20,000 € given in the form of “vouchers” including coaching services and technical assistance.
  • 2nd Prize: 10,000€ given in the form of “vouchers” including coaching services and technical assistance.


B. Southern Mediterranean Countries (Maghreb & Mashrek)


  • 1st Prize: 20,000 € given in the form of “vouchers” including coaching services and technical assistance.
  • 2nd Prize: 10,000€ given in the form of “vouchers” including coaching services and technical assistance.

5. When will the call for applications open?

The call for applications will open on the 12th of September 2022 and will stay open until the 16th of October 2022. Both days are included.
